31 Aug: LIFE IS LIKE A GAME OF GOLF

I love the game of golf. Ever since I started playing about two years ago, I have slowly got hooked on it. Have you ever watched golf on TV? It always looks so easy. The professional golfers with their years of training, hard work and practice, effortlessly strike the ball long distances, accurately chip and putt the ball into the hole. Life can be a bit the same. We watch some people living their lives and it looks effortless and easy, and we can often wonder why our lives are not turning out as successful and as enjoyable. We often perceive other people's lives to be awesome. I say ‘perceive’, as it is often only a perception; the reality could be quite different. In reality they may look like professional golfers who look sharp and their outfits are often well coordinated, but in reality they may be struggling to get to form—or may have a myriad of personal issues niggling away in their minds as they play. They may not be happy but giving the outward appearance as if they are happy.

Steve Jobs, one of the greatest entrepreneurs of our time, would look in the mirror each day and ask himself if this were the last day of his life, would he want to spend it doing what he was about to do? “Whenever the answer has been ‘no’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something,” he said. What has your answer been for the last few days? I try to learn and apply something new every day that can bring me closer to at least one of my goals. I figure if you can learn one small thing each day, and then take one action to apply what you’ve learned, then over the course of a year, you will be 365 small steps closer to your vision. Learning never stops. You should be prepared to add and apply new knowledge every single day!…
